Kurbelfische in der
Kitsch-Bude

  • Content event teaser kitsch bude

The Kitsch-Bude (Kitsch kiosk) was meeting point for everybody. As is generally known the streetcar leads directly in front of the stand and therefore it was a central point as waiting hall, but simultaneously also as a sales hall.Babies were changed and looked after in the "Bude" (kiosk). My mother told me, that I was put on a bench inside the shop even as a small child. My father often gave good advicees and since there was a good relation to all custormers, there was advice in all situations.

At 6 o'clock in the morning the miners of Lothringen came and washed  the dust down their throats. So arose a kind of regular meeting for the buddies. Woe betide if the kiosk hadn't open at 6 o'clock. Then there was trouble ...

Ingrid Kastropp, née Kitsch in a conversation with Gert Kivelitz: "Gerthe - was die Steine uns erzählen" (what the stones do tell us).
